In 1988 Audrey Townsend and Scott Bertram opened Townsend Bertram & Company in Carrboro, an adventure outfitter dedicated to building community, inspiring adventure, and keeping the wild places wild. 30 years later TB&C is still family owned and operated. TB&C is dedicated to serving the Carrboro community with premium outdoor gear and the gold standard of customer service. We are ever grateful to be our community's fun, friendly, and trusted outdoor store for all ages and walks of life.

Through community outreach, TB&C gives thousands of dollars to local, environmental organizations, and community minded nonprofits every year. In addition to these community partnerships, in 2017 following the death of co-founder Scott Bertram, we established the Scott B Scholarship Fund with Learning Outside.

Betsy Bertram is in the process of taking the family business to the next generation with two wonderful business partners, Sara Abernethy and Taylor Dansby. Betsy, Sara and Taylor are grateful for the opportunity to keep TB&C in the family and in the local Carrboro community. We're proud to be located in the building where we first took residence 30 years ago. You can find us in the heart of Downtown Carrboro, in Historic Carr Mill, a reclaimed textile mill turned into a beautiful mall.

When you step through our doors, you too become a part of the TB&C family. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
