Join us December for your holiday shopping December 9th and 10th to give back to the Haw River Assembly. 10% of all Patagonia purchases from that weekend will go directly to the Haw River Assembly. Give a gift that gives back to your local community. Please share this with your friends and family!
The Haw River Assembly is a 501(c)(3) non-profit citizens’ group founded in 1982 to restore and protect the Haw River and Jordan Lake, and to build a watershed community that shares this vision. The scenic 110 mile Haw River is at the headwaters of the Cape Fear River Basin, and includes the Jordan Lake reservoir, providing drinking water and recreation to NC. Tributaries of the Haw River and Jordan Lake flow through Guilford, Rockingham, Caswell, Alamance, Orange, Chatham, Wake and Durham counties. Almost one million people are part of this watershed–sedimentation, wastewater, and runoff impair its waters.
The Haw River Assembly's goals are to promote environmental education, conservation and pollution prevention; to speak as a voice for the river in the public arena; and to put into peoples’ hands the tools and the knowledge they need to be effective guardians of the river.
The Haw River Assembly is dedicated to the goal of environmental justice and equality for all people in our watershed. The Haw River Assembly is a stronger organization and our work to protect water is more successful when our organization represents the full diversity of people living in our watershed. The Haw River Assembly believes all people should have access to enjoyment of the natural world and a voice in decisions that may affect their environment and/or health. No group of people should bear a disproportionate share of negative environmental consequences resulting from industrial activities or governmental policies that situate polluting activities in their community.

A huge thanks to Arbor Carolina, an incredible, locally owned tree service company. Read about the amazing work they do below.
"We are arborists, and we practice arboriculture. Arboriculture, or urban tree care is an important emerging discipline aimed at understanding and providing the best care possible for the trees we share our living spaces with, from the roots to the top of the canopy. Trees and their care is not just our profession, but also our passion, and so we strive to stay current on all exciting new developments and techniques that benefit trees and properties."
"We specialize in quiet, controlled work, whether pruning, repairing, planting or removing trees. We leave a very soft ‘footprint’ and are especially suited to working in tight places where heavy equipment cannot go, and we take exceptional care to ensure that other trees, shrubs, turf and garden plantings are not damaged during work."
Much thanks also to Carr Mill, the Town of Carrboro, The Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce, WCHL The Hill, and all the amazing Carrboro local businesses that help make this event possible. Thanks to some of our favorite outdoor brands: Smartwool, See Kai Run and Outdoor Research for sponsoring the event to raise funds to save the tree with Arbor Carolina.

EVERY PAIR OF SHOES SOLD MEANS ONE MORE TREE
For every pair of Oboz shoes ever sold, since our very first pair, we’ve planted a
tree. THAT’S A LOT OF TREES! Through our partner, Trees for the Future, we have
planted trees that shade crops, rehabilitate depleted soil, provide food, create
windbreaks, and replenish timber across the globe. Not only are trees planted, but
Trees for the Future also educates communities and farmers on forest
rehabilitation, sustainable farming techniques, and soil conservation practices,
so that the benefits keep growing for the future. (obozfootwear.com/why-oboz/ethics)

There are four requirements that all stories must follow:
- All stories are true.
- All stories are told without the use of notes.
- All stories adhere to the twelve-minute time limit.
- All stories must revolve around the theme, Into the Wild.
